307 The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) constitutes the Environmental Life cycle statement of a product, which is then issued by calculation and verification of environmental impacts regarding its environmental performance. The environmental product declaration it is the only and most comprehensive approach/assessment to capture the effects of the product on the environment. According to the international standards ΕΝ 15804 & ISO 14025 and calculating the environmental impacts - which include, among others - emissions to atmosphere/water/ soil, energy/water consumption - arising throughout the life cycle of the product (from mining for raw materials to production, distribution, availability, to its final disposal), provides transparent, comparable and verified information about the environmental footprint of the product. The results recorded in the EPDs have been verified and evaluated by an independent certification body and participate in environmental certification systems such as LEED, BREEAM, etc. that focus on green building. Therefore, they offer a competitive advantage to civil engineers, contractors, but also to the end users of the buildings, in terms of sustainability and environmental friendliness of the products.
