WOOD & METAL SURFACES photograph section - common problems As materials, wood, and metal as surfaces and objects, build-in or movable (e.g., furniture), are integral elements of the spaces where we live, work, rest or have fun. Some of the common factors that can cause damage or wear and contribute to the partial or even total destruction of wood and metal surfaces are: •Paint application to surfaces that were either not clean, or with multiple, pre-existing coats of paint, • Poor application technique (thin or thick coat), • Application of unsuitable products, depending on their location and the use for which they are intended, • Infiltration by moisture and woodworm or erosion (wood and metal, respectively), • Exposure to UV radiation, ageing, and natural wear and tear. The conclusion from all of the above is that timely maintenance is necessary and that it needs to be performed at regular intervals, as well as their care, repair, and/or replacement (where applicable and necessary).
