When installing a new lining over an existing one, and provided that the conditions for stability of the substrate (existing lining) and the existence of proper surface slope are both met, it is important to create the necessary grip conditions for the new application onto the existing, to avoid future detachment problems, but also cracks or other damage in the future. The creation of suitable grip conditions in some cases is achieved by the application of suitable products between the existing and the new lining. By following the right practices, the following installation can be done safely: • Tile over tile, mosaic, marble, etc. • Stone over stone, mosaic, or other substrates. • Microcement or quartz aggregate QUARTZ DECO (stone carpets) over tile, mosaic, marble, stone, etc. The installation of tile over tile is performed by using high-quality adhesives (C2TE S1 and above), GOLD (p. 256), C2TE S2 EXTRA POWER (p. 255, ELASTIC (p. 254). The installation of stone over a stone is performed by using the acrylic adhesive D-5 (p. 236) which also functions as the grout for the elements of the lining. The installation of marble or granite is performed by using the special purpose adhesive D-23 (p. 234) of DUROSTICK. Follow the installation by grouting the surface with the appropriate grouting product. The application of microcement or quartz aggregates QUARTZ DECO over mosaic, tiles, or other linings is performed by priming the substrate/lining with quartz-based grip primer DS-290 (p. 246). NOTE: The creation of expansion joints on the perimeter and per 16-20m2 of surface, is absolutely necessary.
