202 Repair & Renovation Guide CARE AND TREATMENT Renovations - Floor Highlighting and protecting the existing linings (Treatment and waterproofing of marble, stone, or other types of linings) In the context of renovating an exterior space, it might be necessary to take care of elements (of that space) that are not going to be removed, but instead are going to be included in the new configuration. So, care must be taken for their cleaning and freshening them up. Proceed with the necessary and very important waterproofing to achieve, on the one hand, protection from moisture, and on the other, protection from contaminants and the resulting staining and eventual deterioration of those surfaces. Gentle, daily cleaning of surfaces made of tiles, marble, granite can be accomplished with products from the BIOCLEAN line (p. 230) of DUROSTICK. The removal of heavy built-ups, construction, or other residues from the above surfaces can be accomplished by using ACID TILE CLEANER (p. 281). The corresponding product for stone linings is the stone cleaner D-7 (p. 238). Clean-honed marble or mosaics using D-21 (p. 233). After thoroughly cleaning the surfaces, continue with the waterproofing and protection. Waterproof the tile joints with D-16 HYDROSTOP (p. 232). Waterproof and also impart additional oil-repellent properties to marble and granite linings with D-22 (p. 233). Waterproof absorbent (non-glazed) tiles, granite, and cotto with D-29 SPOT FREE (p. 234), or with NANO PROOF MARMO DS -275 (p. 262). Waterproof stone linings with RENOLIT (p. 266) and complete their protection and decoration, where desired, with D-12 (p. 232), VISTA (p. 271), DECOLUX (p. 241), or DECOFIN POLYURETHANE (p. 241) always depending on the aesthetic requirement for a satin, gloss or matte finish.
