150 Repair & Renovation Guide Problems with painted surfaces 7.12 Interior painted surface with stains and smudges from soot, nicotine from cigarettes, fingerprints etc. POSSIBLE CAUSE The deposit of contaminants on painted surfaces is a very common occurrence. SOLUTION Α΄ Clean the surface with BIOCLEAN (p. 230) for nicotine and soot. Easily, quickly and affordably, and without affecting the color, it cleans and also refreshes the look of the space, avoiding frequent repainting. SOLUTION Β΄ If the pollutants are persistent and cannot be removed, then isolate the stains with the METAL PRIMER (p. 276). Finally, apply the luxury emulsion paint SUPER (p. 268) or the ecological emulsion paint for interior and exterior use SUPER ECO (p. 269). These two paints provide great coverage and excellent resistance to frequent washing. 7.13 Detachments or other problems with wallpapers SOLUTION • Identify the problem and outline its extent. • Remove loose and detached sections, foreign objects and thoroughly clean the area from debris and dust. • Apply the powerful adhesive in powder form DUROLIN 200 (p. 250) for paper-based wallpapers or DUROLIN 300 (p. 250) the adhesive in paste form, suitable for heavy and vinyl wallpapers, according to the (wallpaper) manufacturer’s instructions. 7.14 Disintegration/peeling of interior or exterior floor paint (e.g., Island architecture) SOLUTION • Thoroughly clean and remove loose, worn out and peeling paints. • Sand and smooth the floor (if needed). • Prepare with SOLVENT-BASED PRIMER (p. 276), diluted 1: 1 with THINNER 101 (p. 270). • Paint with the high-strength polyurethane and acrylic hybrid floor paint SUPER FLOOR PU (p. 269). SUPER FLOOR PU has excellent adhesion, resistance to weather conditions and UV radiation. The ideal product for protection and decoration of concrete floors, floors with pavers, sidewalks etc. 7.15 Disintegrating/peeling paint from heavy traffic and use floors (repair shops and car garages, warehouses, etc.) • Check the surface, which must be sound, flat, clean and free from dust, oils, rust, and loose paint(s). • Repair any voids (gaps), surface imperfections, and cracks. • Remove all existing peeling paints, (if any), chalking epoxy paints, cement residues, moss, and fungi with sanding machine(s) and clean with a hard, street broom or high performance vacuum cleaner (shop vac). • If the surfaces are already coated with a well-adhered paint, lightly sand, and thoroughly clean them, and then prime them using WATERPROOF EPOXY PRIMER AQUA (p. 272). • Apply the two-component polyaspartic paint of aliphatic polyurea POLYUREA FLOOR COATING (p. 263), as indicated on the product packaging. Its final surface is highly resistant to abrasion, acids, alkalis, mechanical and chemical stress, but also UV radiation.
