SOLUTION • Locate the problem and outline its extent. • Remove loose and detached sections, foreign bodies and thoroughly clean the surface from debris and dust. • If there is suspicion of rising damp affecting the substrate, then waterproof it with the flexible, one-component, fiber-reinforced, brushable waterproofing mortar D-1 FLEX (p. 231) or the brushable waterproofing mortar D-1 (p. 231), fortified with acrylic emulsion additive for mortarsD-20 (p. 233). • Apply the powerful adhesive for vinyl floors and carpets D-89 (p. 239) and install the replacement. 6.14 Cracked grout in the pool POSSIBLE CAUSE Unsuitable type of grout, which deteriorates by the chlorination process of the pool water. SOLUTION • Remove the deteriorated cementitious grout with mechanical means (grinder) or even easier and safer, with the GROUT SCRAPER (p. 280). • Continue by thoroughly cleaning and grouting with the two-component epoxy grout and adhesive DUROPOXY (p. 251). The cleaning process of the residues resulting from grouting with DUROPOXY is achieved quickly and easily only with water. 6.15 Detachment of tiles in the pool POSSIBLE CAUSES • Unsuitable type of adhesive. • Moisture penetration from cracked grout. SOLUTION • Remove the detached and hollowed tiles and clean the substrate with mechanical means (chisel, grinder). • Next, install the new tiles with the two-component epoxy grout and adhesive DUROPOXY (p. 251) and grout with the same product. Alternatively, install the new tiles with the highly deformable cementitious adhesive ELASTIC (p. 254) and grout with DUROPOXY (p. 251).
