Repair & Renovation Guide 141 6.10 Moisture penetration into the substrate of the roof or terrace that caused damage to plaster or paint, balcony fascias, roof parapets or around the vertical surfaces and lower than the level of the lining POSSIBLE CAUSES Faulty sealant (or total lack of sealing) in places where the lining meets railing posts, metal or other mounting brackets or in the joints of the marble threshold etc. SOLUTION • Remove from the surface dust, loose and foreign material, clean thoroughly and allow for it to dry well. • Apply the high adhesion polyurethane elastomeric sealant DUROFLEX-PU (p. 249) after priming with PRIMER-PU (p. 263). 6.11 Penetration, ingress of moisture from the joint over the skirting board of a floor lining POSSIBLE CAUSES Lack of sealing or faulty sealant. SOLUTION • Clean well and remove form the surface any dust and foreign objects. • If there is an existing sealant that has failed, remove it in its entirety. • Apply the high adhesion polyurethane elastomeric sealant DUROFLEX-PU (p. 249) after priming with PRIMER-PU (p. 263). 6.12 Stained elements of the lining (marble, granite etc.) POSSIBLE CAUSES • Absorption of air pollutants, mud rain. • Absorption and staining from greasy substances, wine, coffee, pet stains and stains from watering plants etc. SOLUTION • Remove the stains with a special cleaner, depending on the type of the lining. Polished marble or granite: When dealing with polished marble or granite and the stain is recent/fresh, then apply the biodegradable cleaner BIOCLEAN FOR POLISHED MARBLE (p. 230) which will not affect their shine. Honed marble: • Clean with the cleaning agent for honed marble D-21 (p. 233). • Waterproof the entire surface with the water and oil repelling agent for marble & granite D-22 (p. 233) or with NANO PROOF MARMO DS-275 (p. 262), to protect them from the penetration of all kinds of watery or greasy pollutants/stains in them.
