120 Repair & Renovation Guide Problems with interior wall surfaces SOLUTION Β΄ The systems’ correct application achieves thermal protection and shielding of the wall surfaces, thus eliminating water vapour condensations in the interior wall surfaces, waterproofing, due to the water repellency of the topcoats of the THERMOSEAL system (thus eliminating moisture penetration), but also, the overall aesthetic upgrade of the exterior surface(s). SOLUTION C΄ If the application of SOLUTION B΄ is not feasible, for various reasons (the exterior wall surface is inapproachable, architectural constraints, impossibility to add the related products thickness on the exterior wall etc.) the following steps are proposed for the interior wall surface(s): • Thoroughly clean the wall surface(s) with the special purpose mold & mildew remover D-95 CLEANER (p. 240). Rinse with plenty of water and allow for the surface to dry thoroughly. • Apply the multipurpose paste dB BLOCK (p. 240), 2-3mm thick. • Apply the flexible putty for joints, cracks and smoothing surfaces STUCOFIX ELASTIC PUTTY (p. 268). • Paint with either ecological emulsion paint for interior and exterior use SUPER ECO (p. 269) or the fungi and mold resistant acrylic paint BATHROOM & KITCHEN (p. 279). In this way, and with only a small application thickness, sound insulation, thermal insulation, waterproofing, crack protection, but also interior aesthetic upgrade, are all achieved. 2.4 Breaks and cracks in the inner corners of the plaster wall surface SOLUTION • Remove meticulously all loose and detached sections and clean the surface thoroughly. • Repair with the fast setting white repair plaster D-32 (p. 235), fortified with the acrylic emulsion additive for mortars D-20 (p. 233). • If a smooth wall texture is desired, apply the coating paste POWDER COAT (p. 263) or for a perfectly smooth surface, apply the ultrafine skim coat paste STUCOFIX-P (p. 268). • Prime with the micromolar stabilizer AQUAFIX (p. 230) and paint with the luxury emulsion paint SUPER (p. 268) or with the highly durable emulsion paint EXTRA (p. 255). 2.5 Cracks on wall surfaces at the joint with a column or a beam SOLUTION • Remove carefully all loose sections throughout the damaged area. • Widen the crack(s) and clean thoroughly (if it is not capillary). If no detachment of bricks is found, and always depending on the extent of the damage, repair the interior wall as follows: • In cases of extensive damage (both in depth and size of the problem surface), wherever the structural element has been revealed, initially stabilize the substrate surface (brick, concrete or other) by applying the acrylic emulsion for mortars D-20 (p. 233), diluted at a ratio of 1: 1 with water (potable). Alternatively, apply a scratch coat by using the scratch/base coat plaster D-40 (p. 236). • Continue by repairing the plaster base coat using again D-40 (p. 236), fortified with D-20 (p. 233) and reinforced by encasing the fiberglass mesh DS-1090 (p. 242). As topcoat, the application of the flexible, multipurpose repair mortar MEGAFIX (p. 261) is recommended. • If a smooth wall texture is desired, apply the coating paste POWDER COAT (p. 263) or for a perfectly smooth surface, apply the ultrafine skim coat paste STUCOFIX-P (p. 268), both fortified for any situation with the acrylic emulsion for mortars D-20 (p. 233). • Prime the surface with the micromolar stabilizer AQUAFIX (p. 230) or with the SOLVENT-BASED PRIMER (p. 276). • Paint the surface with the paint of choice, such as the fungi and mold resistant acrylic paint BATHROOM & KITCHEN (p. 279), the highly durable emulsion paint EXTRA (p. 255) or the ecological emulsion paint for interior and exterior use SUPER ECO (p. 269).
