Repair & Renovation Guide 105 The proper preparation of a surface (paint substrate) with the application of a suitable primer to it, ensures: è The stability of the paint substrate, è The increase of the grip properties of the substrate, è The reduction of the necessity for many coats of the final color, è The uniform result of the paint application on the finished surface, due to the consistent absorbency of the substrate as a whole, è The prevention of paint blistering after the application completion (application to plaster surfaces). Primers as products are divided in two major categories: •Water-based primers •Solvent-based primers It is common practice - when possible - to use water-based primers on the exterior and interior surfaces and solvent-based primers on exterior surfaces (due to odor). In case they need to be applied indoors, make sure that the space is adequately ventilated during the application and until it, the solvent-based primer thoroughly dries. • 100% ACRYLIC PRIMER • AQUAFIX • PVA PRIMER • VELATURA AQUA • SOLVENT-BASED PRIMER • VELATURA • METAL PRIMER • ALUMINUM & GALVANIZED STEEL PRIMER • NATURAL RED LEAD DUROSTICK primers Primers for surfaces made of plaster, concrete, drywall, cement boards, particle boards, aircrete, wood, metal etc. SOLVENT - BASED WATER - BASED Find additional information about primers and DUROSTICK paints on our YouTube channel
